New Rector Appointed for St Ninian’s, Pollokshields

The Rt Rev Kevin Pearson, Bishop of the United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev Verity Joy Brown as Rector of St Ninian’s, Pollokshields, subject to PVG clearance. Her institution service will be announced in due course.

Verity says “I am delighted to be able to take up the appointment of Rector at St Ninian’s, Pollokshields and to begin ministry within the Scottish Episcopal Church. I have long held a passion for Scotland and its people and look forward to meeting you and serving amongst you, within the church and wider community. Although Glasgow is new to me, I am excited by the prospect of ministering in such a vibrant city and of exploring new ways of sharing God’s love with His people. “

Verity comes to our diocese from St Hilda’s Church in Hartlepool, England.

Bishop Kevin says, ”Verity brings a wealth of experience working within the community with families and young people in a spirit of missional outreach. She also brings experience of leading a worshipping community in an important historical building. Her liturgical and pastoral approach to ministry will be much cherished here in the diocese as she seeks to get to know the people of Pollokshields and enables St Ninian’s reach out in new ways to facilitate growth in the ministry and mission of St Ninian’s in the contemporary setting of a district in Glasgow facing much renewal and regeneration. We look forward to welcoming Verity to the diocese and will value her contribution to diocesan life.”

Please pray for Verity, her family, and the community of St Hilda’s, Hartlepool, as she prepares to move to St Ninian’s, Pollokshields during the coming months.
