New Priest in Charge Appointed for St Oswald’s, King’s Park

The Rt Rev Kevin Pearson, Bishop of the United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev Alison Kate Mathew as Priest-in-Charge of St Oswald’s, King’s Park. Her licensing will be on Thursday, 1 June 2023 at 3pm in St Oswald’s.

Alison says, “I am delighted to have been appointed as the Priest-in-Charge of St Oswald’s, King’s Park and I am very much looking forward to being part of the community there, working and growing together in our walk with God and in serving the local community. I am also very much looking forward to joining in with the wider life of the Diocese. In many ways, my move to Glasgow is a ‘coming home’ as I was born and grew up in Dunoon and was a student in Glasgow. Flora (my dog!) and I will also enjoy getting (re)acquainted with the many lovely green spaces the city of Glasgow has to offer!”

Alison comes to the Diocese from the Canterbury Province in the Church of England, where she has been serving in Radley (St James the Great), Sunningwell and Kennington in the Diocese of Oxford.

Bishop Kevin says, “We are delighted that Alison is coming to work with us in the diocese and serve as the Priest-in-Charge of St Oswald’s, King’s Park and Castlemilk in the South Glasgow Region. Her wisdom and skills will become an important part of our diocesan life as she helps St Oswald’s establish its future ministry and mission in reaching out to the community, building upon the many great friendships and connections that already exist. Alison’s skills and talents will be very much the foundation for the development of ministry in the King’s Park area. We look forward to seeing how, as Alison’s ministry in the charge develops, the whole diocese can gain insights from this pioneering situation.”

Please pray for Alison as she prepares to move to St Oswald’s, Kings Park during the coming months.
