Bishop Mark visited Swinton Primary School to bless the new school chaplain, Rev Jim Benton-Evans, priest-in-charge of the East End Team Ministry. The whole school gathered to thank Rev Jim for his work at the school, which includes leading ukulele club, supporting staff and pupils, and most recently working with P7s on a live radio broadcast with East End Community Radio.
Bishop Mark prayed for Jim in his continuing ministry at the school. He also delighted pupils by explaining his role as Primus while dressing up a volunteer with mitre, crozier, bishop’s ring and pectoral cross! The event was also attended by the Provincial Youth Committee Enabler and representatives from the East End churches of Baillieston, Shettleston and Dennistoun, including assistant priest, Rev Lucy Ireland, and members of the congregations, seen here with Head Teacher, Emma Gillies.
Thank you, Swinton Primary School, for your warm welcome!
